The Scranton city council held its regular meeting Tuesday, Dec. 16.
Ashley Squibb gave the monthly library report. Items reported included hiring Brandy Thompson as a fill-in librarian, new shelving, holiday closures and the resignation of Linda Hoyt from the library board.
Bob South gave the monthly sewer report. Items reported included the installation and calibration of a new pH probe, unplugging aerators, blower repairs, sewer plant dialer repairs, training, NPDES compliance and routine operational checks of equipment.
The council reviewed a written water report from Jim Jones. Items in the report included filing and organization of files and reports, monthly water samples, monthly report completion, training, and reprogramming the test meter per the DNR requirements.
Chad Kirk gave the monthly maintenance report. Items discussed included getting copies made of maps, cleaning of the water plant sedimentation tank, snow fence and furnace repairs.
The council approved the change the employment status of Jim Jones from independent contractor to employee at the same rate of pay.
